From February 28th to March 3rd we will bid you welcome to four days with performances, workshops and talks – all aimed at adults only.

Copenhagen Puppet Festival presents…! Nordic Puppet Ambassadors with the performance WaitingRoom. A grotesque and hilarious play inspired by the works of the Danish painter Michael Kvium.

Further more it will be possible to get an introduction to puppet making or animation using different light sources on shades or raw walls in one of the two workshops presented by UNIMA Danmark and Bornholm Puppet Festival. Please note that both workshops are now fully booked

As a gloomy completion of the programme the shortfilm Hooray for Hollywood by Puppet (R)Evolution will run. A grim autobiographical tale of the child pornography industry in Hollywood. The film’s director will follow up by giving an insight into the underlying  reflections and artistic choices for communicating her own fragmentet and horrible childhood.

Copenhagen Puppet Festival cuts its strings
In the winter of 2012 Copenhagen Puppet Festival became a self-governing institution. Hereby improving our possibilities to focus on the festival’s core task: to draw innovative and thought provoking puppetry for adults to Copenhagen. We are celebrating this from February 28th to March 3rd with Copenhagen Puppet Festival presents…!

It will all take place in Kulturanstalten, Lyrskovsgade 4 and in its cellar venue Basement, Enghavevej 42; which have always been the hub of the festival.

UNIMA is organizing a workshop, which will give participant a practical insight into puppet making and manipulation. You have to sign up for it via UNIMA Denmark web page, and the workshop is in Danish.

We are also looking for volunteers, for an assortment of tasks. See the full list here, find something you want to do, and sign up by writing to info(a)puppetfestival.dk.

To mark our newfound independence we are creating an event for the 28th of February to the 3rd of March. We want to show that we are still here, and breathe some (puppet)life into Copenhagen.

There will for instance be the Danish premiere of The Waiting Room performed by Nordic Puppet Ambassadors.

Everyone who works for CPF is voluntering, including the management and the board of directors, and we are
receiving contributions from many good forces, which we appreciate greatly. As we have limited time and finances, we hope that our webpage will give you all the answers you need. We cannot guarantee that we will have the time to answer all the questions sent by mail.

Because we are a self-governing organization it is now possible to support us financially, via a bank account which we will soon have in place.

 The internationally recognised puppet theatre festival for adults, Copenhagen Puppet Festival, has cut the strings and become a self-governing organisation. Thereby making it possible to focus even more closely on the main object of the festival, to attract innovative and challenging adult puppet theatre to Copenhagen.

Copenhagen Puppet Festival is to become a self-governing institution. The puppet theatre festival for adults will now be organisatorially separate from Puppet Junior, which focuses on children. It will give the festivals two distinct profiles, appealing to different audiences, and is a happy “divorce” for both parties.

The board for the new independent institute will be broadly representative, with Jonas Wilstrup, daily political director for HORESTA, as chairman.

“As a self-governing institution the festival will have greater freedom to enter into close co-operation with foreign festivals and organisations, and make partnerships with private firms and funds” says Jonas Wilstrup. “At the same time we can more easily become involved in culture politics, and work to see puppet theatre integrated as a natural part of the Danish performing arts.”

“Unfortunately we have not succeeded in raising funds for Copenhagen Puppet Festival in 2013, but we have experienced a lot of good will from the puppet community, our co-partners and volunteers to keep the festival. With their help and crowd funding we are therefore now focusing all our energy on launching Copenhagen Puppet Festival February 28th to March 3rd 2013 despite all odds. Because we are still here and we intend on staying.”
