Puppet Junior 2010 was an overwhelming success with over 4.500 guests spread across the festival’s four outdoor market days, indoor performances, workshops and exhibition. We are very grateful for the funding, that made it possible to present both Danish and foreign puppetry of high artistic quality, and we look forward to new experiences with the younger audience and their parents in 2012.

From 24th – 27th March 2011 we once again open the doors to Copenhagen Puppet Festival, which this time focuses on Danish and Scandinavian puppet theater for adults. The website should be ready by mid-September and will then be updated regularly, so remember to visit us again after the summer break. Deadline has closed for performances in 2011. Meanwhile we’ll recommend you to look into the New Circus Festival that will take place in Copenhagen in August. It is organised by one of our copartners KIT (Copenhagen International Theatre) and we are looking very much forward to see what’s on the program this year! Over 3.000 guests looked by this year´s Copenhagen Puppet Festival. We are glad to have been able to give so many a unique experience. It is the second time the festival has been held and seen in this light we have had an overwhelming audience response and visibility in the press. This proves how important it is to have a festival which focuses on adult puppetry, unites the Danish puppet environment, supports names that are not yet established on the international scene, puts puppet theatre on the cultural political agenda, opens new eyes to the many possibilities puppet theatre holds and gives new input to the Danish stage arts.

A special thanks goes to our sponsors, co-partners and our many volunteers for making it possible to hold such a complete event. We will be back in 2010 with Puppet Junior in the 7th week of the year. The next Copenhagen Puppet Festival will be held in spring 2011.

Copenhagen Puppet Festival offers a broad selection of experiences from the international puppet scene. In addition to the performances the festival in 2009 also offers workshops, film, cabaret, installations and seminars. All aimed at adults only.

Copenhagen Puppet Festival wishes you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We are looking forward to seeing you all March 19th – 29th 2009 …

Until then you can enjoy a picture of dutch Vincent de Rooij, that performs at the festival with his minimalistic multimedia universe.

We can however already reveal that we have invited students and teachers from puppet theatre schools in Poland, Germany and England to Copenhagen in 2009. They will take part in various parts of the programme in the second week of the festival. As yet Denmark has no recognized professional training for puppeteers and we would like to focus on the possibilities this could bring by working with well-known and established schools from abroad.

The final program will be launched on the 15th of January 2009.
