Tour de Chambres

Hands, shadows, objects and projections – the scope of puppet theatre is wide. We have chosen to interpret the tradition broadly and present four short performances by three foreign groups, each lasting a maximum of 15 minutes. The audience is led through Vesterbro Culture House in small groups, and each group sees three performances on the tour. One by each puppet group. All the performances use very simple artistic effects to put their stories across. See below for a description of the plays.

FLYV
Vincent de Rooij (NL)

Vincent de Rooij.

Vincent de Rooij.

A camera, a bowl of clear chicken soup and a fly create the setting for this wonderful story, which takes us above the Earth and deep into outer space. Using a simple set design, himself and objects, Vincent de Rooij guides us through his universe of crazy associations. Everything is filmed and projected onto a screen simultaneously.
Vincent characterizes his work as visual theatre and uses everyday objects, minimalistic multimedia and live music.

“A brilliant multimedia innovation … If you want to make a movie Fly is a dynamic demonstration of how it should be done”.

HÆNDERNE FULDE
Le Grand Manipule (F)

Le Grand Manipule.

Le Grand Manipule.

The performance starts with two figures dressed in black, and four impatient hands. Two of the hands are attracted to each other and the plot unfolds from there. An absurd narrative is played out by just four hands, using classic elements from blockbuster films – erotica, jealousy and a car chase.
Le Grand Manipule are well known for their peculiar stories. They typically mix acting with object theatre, backed up by a homemade language and sound effects.

BASTA
Théâtre d’Ombre (F)

chambrecollage

A black and white story about the struggle between good and evil – told with incredibly few artistic effects. A society is born and develops, but with
development comes deforestation, pollution and nuclear power. Civilisation and nature appear incompatible, one of them must succumb in the end…
Théâtre d’Ombre is a one-man theatre with an attitude to life. The theatre uses shadow and light, contrasts and not least paint.

CONCERTO COSMIQUE
Théâtre d’Ombre (F)

Concerto Cosmique.

Concerto Cosmique.

Another play by Théâtre d’Ombre told with some of shadow puppetry´s most simple artistic effects. In less than a quarter of an hour, we follow evolution from the Big Bang to the appearance of our solar system, to the first one-celled organisms, the evolution of Man and the launch of the first satellites. One impression flows into the next and the audience is guided on a musical dream journey through the universe. The narrative is told with the simplicity that characterizes the work of Théâtre d’Ombre. A screen, shadow and light – what more do you need?
